You can get free help with your homework in the so-called homework and study cafés (lektiecaféer) in several places in Aarhus, namely

If you or you kid(s) needs help with homework, the homework cafés are for you. The homework cafés provide an excellent opportunity for asking the questions you did not get to ask in class, and there is a good chance you will improve your school work.

Everybody participates on a voluntary basis - students and tutors alike. The tutors are not going to do the work for you, but with you. It does not matter what kind of school you are in, there is room for everyone – from the early  grades to adult education.   

Participation is completely free of charge.
 

Café Kloden

Monday-Thursday – 15:00-18:00

Café Kloden offers help to youngsters and adults with a different cultural and lingual background than Danish. The volunteers can help with homework and tasks in Danish, mathematics, English, and much more. You can also get help with reading newspapers or writing letters and applications.

Frydenlund

Tuesday and Thursday – 17:00-19:00

The homework café in Frydenlund was founded on the initiative of a group of parents. It is a collaboration between a volunteer group from the Danish Refugee Council and the Association Leg og Lær.

The homework café is for bilingual kids and youngsters who need help with their homework. Most of the café users are in folkeskole. The help is given on the basis of mutual respect, and everything is on a voluntary basis.

Gellerup Bibliotek

Monday and Wednesday – 15:00-16:45 and Tuesday and Thursday – 15:30-17:30
Whether you are having a hard time understanding certain words or having problems with your science report, Danish assignment, or German translation, you can get help at the homework café at the library in Gellerup. The homework café is run by volunteers from the Danish Refugee Council, and all ages are welcome.

Hasle Bibliotek

Monday – 17:00-19:00, Tuesday – 14:00-17:00, and Thursday 17:00-19:00

The library in Hasle runs a homework café in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council. The activities are mainly for kids and youngsters, but adults are also welcome to get help in the café. Participants can get help with different subjects: Danish, foreign languages, mathematics, etc. The volunteers can help with homework that ranges from folkeskole to gymnasium level.

Reginehøj

Thursday – 17:00-19:00

The homework café in Reginehøj is primarily an academic offer for help to kids and youngsters with a different ethnic origin. Everybody is welcome regardless of age, sex, and ethnicity.

There is primarily help for mathematics, English, and Danish at 1st to 9th grade level.

Wednesday 14:30-17:30

The offer is for all kids and youngsters in folkeskole. The help is given on the basis of mutual respect, and everything is on a voluntary basis.

Trige

Wednesday – 16:00-18:00

The homework café in Trige is a nice place with space for homework, quizzes, and games. Kids and volunteers can practice difficult words, expressions, and tables. Additionally, there is focus on the social element with two breaks for play with indoor as well as outdoor games.

The homework café is for all kids from Trige and the surrounding area. Homework, community, and play are highly prioritized.

Viby Bibliotek

Tuesday and Thursday - 15:00-17:30

The library in Viby hosts a homework café in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council. The activities are aimed at kids and youngsters, and the target group ranges from 4th grade up until ‘3.G in gymnasium’. Kids and adults beyond the target group are also welcome, and the tutors will help them to the best of their abilities.

Åby Bibliotek

Wednesday – 15:00-17:00

If you need help with school work, job applications, drivers ed, or something else, you can go to the homework café at the library in Åby. The café is manned by volunteers from the Danish Refugee Council, and the target group is youngsters and adults.

If no one has turned up within the first half hour, the tutor might leave, but you are welcome to set up a personal appointment with Fred Mosekjær at +45 2338 2323 or fred@mosekjaer.dk.

The Main Library (DOKK1)

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 15:30-18:00

DOKK1 hosts a study café for young people between 14 and 18 years,  who can get help with their homework, assignments, and other school related work.
The study café is held in cooperation with Save the Children, and the homework helpers are a team of volunteering university students from Save the Children.
