Corona Restrictions and vaccination

The new and highly contagious Omicron variant is spreading right now in Denmark. This means that there is a flare-up in the covid-19 epidemic with a very large and increasing number of infected, and that there is a larger number of patients with severe covid-19 processes who need to go to hospital. There is therefore a high risk that the healthcare system will be challenged.

New restrictions regarding close contacts:

  • As of December 20th, new guidelines were issued for testing and self-isolation of close contacts for those infected with COVID-19. The guidelines mean that only the infected person's contacts in the household or equivalent must go into self-isolation.
  • If the close contact has been vaccinated with a third vaccine booster or has been infected within the last 12 weeks, self-isolation is not necessary, but it is recommended to be tested.

Travelling to Denmark

In order to restrict the introduction and spread of other more transmissible virus variants, requirements for testing before and self-isolation after entering Denmark are currently in effect.

There is a general requirement for testing before entering Denmark, but people with residence in Denmark can have a test taken within 24 hours after entering Denmark. This requirement applies even if you are fully vaccinated, but not if you are previously infected.

The test taken before entering Denmark can be either a negative antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before the date of entry, or a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before the date of entry.

Read more about the requirements here.

Everyone over the age of 18 have the opportunity to get their 3rd COVID-19 vaccine booster, if they have passed their 140th calendar day (4,5 month) after their 2nd vaccine booster.
