Update on Corona restrictions - Reopening of society

Reopening of society

As of 21 May, Danish society will reopen almost fully, except for the nightlife sector.

All indoor sports and cultural events can now reopen, providing the requirement of the corona pass. Indoor facilities inside theme parks, zoos and aquariums are now reopening, along with gaming halls, casinos, playgrounds, swimming pools, saunas, and water parks. All music, art and other evening schools will fully open too.

All higher education institutions can open their doors again – at a 100 percent capacity. All schools can also run at a 100 percent capacity, along with all other educational institutions, such as folk high schools and those that offer onsite accommodation.

And by August 1, all workplaces can return to a 100 percent capacity. The return will take place in three phases, with the first (from May 21) welcoming back 20 percent and the second (from June 14) 50 percent.

Gradual normalization of physical attendance at workplaces. It applies per. May 21 a recommendation of 20 per cent. physical attendance.

The indoor assembly ban will be lifted to 50 people, and the outdoor assembly ban will be lifted to 100 people as of 21 May.

The Corona Passport - Relaxed Rules

As of 21 May the rules for valid documentation are relaxed, so that as a starting point 14 days after the first vaccination you can use documentation for this as your corona pass. The health authorities will determine the specific time.

The control of the corona pass is relaxed, so it is possible for voluntary associations and libraries to carry out one daily random check of all persons present. This does not mean that you won’t be needing the corona pass anymore though, only that the control of it will be relaxed!

The app minsundhed will be your Corona passport, showing whether you have been vaccinated, infected before
or tested negative within the past 72 hours. You can download minsundhed where you usually download your apps.

Vaccination - Voluntary Scheme

The authorities have established a voluntary scheme where you can choose whether you want the vaccine from AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson. Vaccination will be free, and it is expected that the voluntary scheme will start soon. To find out more visit the private company Practio’s website to sign-up for the voluntary scheme.

Vaccination – Official Scheme

All citizens residing legally in Denmark are entitled to the COVID-19 vaccination. You will receive a letter in your e-boks with details on when you are up for vaccination and how to proceed with booking an appointment. Being a healthy person under 50 you can expect to be notified in May or June. Please, do not contact your GP, as he/she is not responsible for the vaccination program. At the moment it is expected that all citizens in Denmark will be vaccinated by 18 July.
