The Sound of Saturday with Ensemble Hermes: Music, Stories and Music Stories
With the concert series The Sound of Saturday, Ensemble Hermes will create a recurring event with classical music in a relaxed setting, where both new and experienced concertgoers can get really close to the musicians and their work with music.
How can you really hear how old music is? What exactly makes something sound like Mozart and something else like Stockhausen? For this Sound of Saturday, we will try to clean the board and immerse ourselves in the most distinctive stylistic characteristics of different periods and in what these mean for the style in which the music is played. We will together with the audience experiment with how e.g. Vivaldi sounds if he was played as Wash and investigate what is the reason why you as a musician apply different playing techniques, depending on what repertoire is played. We want to give the audience the opportunity to listen to how old the music is, but also to critically relate to what this means for the way it is played and to the choices the musicians make in this regard.
