Spouse Community Update - Week 43

Tak for Sidst - Weekly Danish Chat

Every week, Claudine holds a Danish Chat for our members to practice speaking Danish! Sometimes, we just need a chance to speak Danish and not be afraid of making mistakes, and Claudine gives us a safe place to to do so. She's also amazing for explaining nuances in the language that native speakers simply don't think of. To gain access to the Danish chat group and other member-led initiatives, become a member!

Insta-takeover with Subhi!
Over on our Instagram, we are giving the world a peek into the lives of spouses in Aarhus! Every once in a while, one of our members will takeover our Instagram to share everything from their daily lives, to hidden gems around the city. We have such a diverse membership, and everyone experiences Aarhus differently – so this is a great chance to see how others have made this city their home.
Currently, Subhi is sharing a week in her life – including some of her passion for food and every day experiences.  Follow her journey at @spousecommunityaarhus
Even if you’re not doing a Takeover, you can still join our Insta-community, just tag your posts with #spouselifeinaarhus to showcase your life in Aarhus!

What is a Spouse? project
We at Spouse Community Aarhus consider ourselves as international individuals, who have fearlessly entered the Danish culture with the hope of thriving in Aarhus alongside our partners. Our 'What Is A Spouse?' project was launched at our one-year anniversary. The project is a compilation of inspiring stories from ‘spouses’ like you who have done just that. Each month we’ll bring you a new experience from spouses who have made Aarhus their home. For this month, read about Lisa, a doctor from Germany who moved to Denmark with her partner after he found a job at Aarhus University. She has shared her experience of settling and restarting her career in Denmark, learning Danish, how she met new people and found activities to engage herself in Aarhus. We’d love you to join us! Spouse Community Aarhus is a community of enthusiastic international spouses and accompanying partners from all over the world that have settled in Aarhus and made this city our home. Anyone can become a member of Spouse Community Aarhus, whether you or your partner are internationals or Danes. We are lucky enough to have members of many ages and nationalities, both men and women, and some working or volunteering in Aarhus.

We are a non-profit volunteer-based organization and our nominal membership fee of 100kr per year (that’s about the price of two coffees!) goes directly back into putting on our events - so the more members we have, the more awesome events!

As a member you’ll also receive invitations to all our Spouse Community Aarhus events which are free to members (or in the instance there is an entry fee or ticket needed, we negotiate the best price possible for our members), and access to our members-only Facebook forum, a place to connect with members, ask questions and seek advice, and share events and articles.
