Spouse Community Update

Tak for sidst!

On Tuesday this week, Spouse Community Board members, Tamara and Tiny, had the opportunity to meet with Aarhus Municipality Vice Mayor, Camilla Fabricius, addressing issues surrounding how internationals and accompanying partners experience life in Aarhus. Many thanks to Camilla Fabricius for the chance to meet and chat with us.

We kicked of the first workshop of  Spouse Community Aarhus’ Photography Workshop Series, The Basics with Mariana Gil Photography last Saturday where participants learnt the basics of digital photography and camera’s manual settings to get the best results out of their shots. Many thanks to Mariana Gil for conducting this workshop and Leanne Marie Kolpin, Abstract Artist for the picture from the workshop. We’ve recently opened sign-ups to the next session in Spouse Community Aarhus’ Photography Workshop Series where Mariana will lead a hands-on session on Adobe Photoshop and Photo Editing. What is a Spouse? project

We at Spouse Community Aarhus consider ourselves as international individuals, who have fearlessly entered the Danish culture with the hope of thriving in Aarhus alongside our partners. Our 'What Is A Spouse?' project was launched at our one-year anniversary. The project is a compilation of inspiring stories from ‘spouses’ like you who have done just that. Each month we’ll bring you a new experience from spouses who have made Aarhus their home. For this month, read about Subhi, a 30-year-old Data Engineer and an accompanying spouse from India who has shared her experiences of settling and finding her niche in Aarhus by clicking here

Join the Spouse Community Aarhus Board!

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic spouse to grow and contribute to Spouse Community Aarhus by volunteering as a Board Member in area of Communications.
You will be joining a proactive and passionate Board of members who are committed to growing our network and engaging spouses across the Aarhus community through social and professional networking opportunities, events, activities and charitable initiatives.

We’re looking for a volunteer who is positive, enthusiastic and organised, with a desire to drive projects that add value to our community and members. Ideally, you’re a social butterfly who is comfortable speaking to both individuals and in-front of groups, and you’re also willing to lend a hand and support your teammates in their project areas when needed.

In our Communications role, there’s an emphasis on social media and creating written content to promote our events, so if you’re a great writer and a whiz at Facebook and Instagram, that’s a huge plus!

We look forward to hearing from you!

We’d love you to join us! Spouse Community Aarhus is a community of enthusiastic international spouses and accompanying partners from all over the world that have settled in Aarhus and made this city our home. Anyone can become a member of Spouse Community Aarhus, whether you or your partner are internationals or Danes. We are lucky enough to have members of many ages and nationalities, both men and women, and some working or volunteering in Aarhus.

We are a non-profit volunteer-based organisation and our nominal membership fee of 100kr per year (that’s about the price of two coffees!) goes directly back into putting on our events - so the more members we have, the more awesome events!

As a member you’ll also receive invitations to all our Spouse Community Aarhus events which are free to members (or in the instance there is an entry fee or ticket needed, we negotiate the best price possible for our members), and access to our members-only Facebook forum, a place to connect with members, ask questions and seek advice, and share events and articles.
