DLRC presents QTC (Questions, Thoughts and Contentions) Wednesday!
This week Henrik Bødker talks about "Journalism Studies and the Digital"
About the talk:
Based on his own work as well as that of others, this talk will reflect on some of the ways in which digital technologies have transformed both journalism as we used to know and its related field of journalism studies. While digital transformations have pushed concepts such as boundary work and interlopers to the front of the discussion they have also raised broader questions about how we can/should amend our thinking about journalism as a practice of representation.
About the speaker:
Henrik Bødker, Ph.D, is Associate Professor at the Media and Journalism Studies Department at Aarhus University. He has published on various intersections between popular culture and media, e.g. music and magazines. More recently he has focused on how digital technologies are transforming the temporality and circulation of journalism as well as the related processes of how communities are formed through journalism. He is currently working on a book-length history of Vice Media Inc. (under contract with McGill-Queen’s University Press).
