Are you interested in learning about the history of Aarhus?
International Community and Aarhus Explorers invite you for an awesome guided tour around the city where you can get an insight to the viking culture and how the city developed through the centuries.
The walk is an event for International Community and will be a tips-based city walk, so the guide’s payment will be related to the level of your satisfaction.
In the tour we explore over 1000 years of history of the city, from the Vikings to Aarhus 2017 - the European Capital of Culture
Who were the Vikings in Aarhus, where did they come from and where did they go? In the tour we will explain the story of the people who founded the settlement here in 770AD and exploration of the places which were important for them. Come and find out if the famous Viking king Harald Bluetooth really had a blue tooth or what really happened to the Vikings. Did they become rich merchants who in the Middle Ages traded with the whole world or did they go on their famous raids and never came back?
The walk is a journey through the prosperous times of the city, stories about the people who built the most significant buildings in Aarhus and insight into the vibrant cultural life of the city mirrored in its various art events.
About Aarhus Explorers:
Aarhus Explorers is a part of AarhusGuides. They are all international guides who two years ago started guiding city walks in English or their native languages. Aarhus Explorers’ guides specialise in weekend city walks and they have created walks for art lovers, architecture admirers, those who love stories about the Vikings or the Royal Family. Their walks last over two hours (sometimes even three) and have a fixed price of 80 kr for adults or, frequently, 50 kr for students.
Share the information with your friends, bring them along and dress appropriately to the weather - the Danish weather loves to be moody!
The walk starts in front of Dokk1
next to the river and explores the sights on the way to the area between the City Hall and ARoS
