Spouse Community Aarhus
Danish Living 201
02 February 2019
Time: 10:00 - 12:00
Location: M3.7, Level 3, Dokk1, Hack Kampmanns Plads 2, 8000 Aarhus, Denmark
For the second part in our Danish Living series we dive into Danish traditions and activities you may experience as you settle in Denmark. As an international in Denmark, you must have already noticed how Danes are strongly rooted to their traditions, customs and festivals. When you are invited to any of the occasions, you may be confused about how things are done in the Danish way and how you want to present yourself. Hence, we are collaborating with our member, Lisbeth to give us a session on how to embrace Danish traditions and activities.
We will meet in Dokk1 and chat about the various Danish traditions over some warm beverages and cake, in true Danish fashion. Some of the topics of discussion will be:
- Life events like confirmations, weddings, birthdays, etc.
- Festivals around the Christian calendar
- Dress codes
- Singing and speeches
- Food served at the gatherings
- School activities experienced as a parent
Lisbeth is a Dane, born in Aarhus and she has lived here most of her life. She has a global mindset, having briefly lived in Germany and overseas in New Zealand in her youth. She works in HR. In her spare time, she does a bit of running and enjoys spending time with her family and friends and meeting new people.
The event is kid-friendly, free and open to Spouse Community members* only. This event will take place at Dokk1 in room M3.7 on Level 3. Participants will receive a guest code to use at the elevator to reach the meeting room upon signing up in a mail. A Spouse Community board member will be at the Level 1 Reception Desk for assistance. Tickets must be purchased by January 31 to secure your spot.
*For just 100kr you can become a Spouse Community Aarhus member and have access to all our events!
