International Community is an integrated part of Erhverv Aarhus (Aarhus Business Network). From our base in Aarhus we cooperate with companies and organizations throughout Denmark in a joint effort to make it easier for international employees and their families to settle and live in Aarhus and Denmark.
Strong cooperation with the local community, businesses, cultural institutions, clubs and associations is an important aspect of International Community’s work. Together with our local partners we offer our members a wide range of events and activities.
International Community was until March 2012 part of a regional initiative by Vækstforum, the Central Denmark Region growth forum, to welcome and retain international labour.
The project had two main aims:
- to facilitate welcoming and integration of international labour by participating companies
- to support and develop integration of international labour in the local community and to help newcomers feel welcome.
To achieve these aims, the project was organised in seven consortiums across the region. This cooperation involves the municipalities of Samsø, Odder, Skanderborg, Favrskov, Syddjurs, Norddjurs and Aarhus.
Lead partner of regional project
From March 2012 to June 2015 International Community was the lead partner and coordinator of the project, ‘Modtagelse og fastholdelse af udenlandsk arbejdskraft II" (Receiving and retaining international employees).
The project included organizations from all 19 municipalities in the Region. The project was initiated by Vækstforum in Central Denmark Region and supported by the European Social Fund and a wide range of public and private players in the Region.
The purpose of the project was to improve the conditions for recruiting and retaining international employees and their families in the Region.
The project focused on five key areas:
- Professional and social network activities
- The accompanying spouse
- Improvement of public service
- Connection to local society and associations
- Marketing of the project
This cooperation involved all the municipalities in Central Denmark Region.
